Marilyn Monroe is born as Norma Jeane Mortenson on the first June 1962 in L os Angeles, Carlifornia.


The most of her childhood, she spent in foster homes and orphanages until 1937, when she moved in with family friend Grace Mc Kee Goddard. When she was 16 years old, Grace' s husband was transferred to the East Coast in 1942. Then she had 2 options: return to the orphanage or get married.




One June 19, 1942, she wed her 21 years old neighbor Jimmy Dougtherty. They were very happy together, but in 1944 Jimmy went to the Marins at the South Parcific.


After he had left her, she took a job at the Radio Munitions factory in Burbank.


Serveral month later, photographer David Concover saw and couldn' t believe his luck, because she was a photographer' s dream. So she worked a long time as model.


Then she began studying the work of populare actresses Jean Harlow and Lana Turner and enrolled in drama classes with dreams of stardom.


In 1946 Jimmy return, she divorced him in June of 1946 and signed her first  studio contract with Twentieth Century Fox on August 26, 1946. She earned 125$ a week.


Soon after she dyed her hair blonde and changed her name to Marilyn Monroe.


Her first movie role was in THE SHOCKING MISS PILGRAM in 1947.


After them it came some other films like SCUDDA HOO! SCUDDA HAY! and DANGEROUS YEARS in 1948, LADIES OF THE CHORUS in 1949, A TICKET TO TOMAHAWK, RIGHT CROSS, THE FIREBALL and LOVE HAPPY in 1950


In 1950 she acted in John Huston's thriller THE ASPHALT JUNGLE.


Later that year Marilyn performance as Claudia Caswell in ALL ABOUT EVE. From then on she worked steadily in movies such as: LOVE NEST, LET' S MAKE IT LEGAL, HOMETOWN ATORY, AS YOUNG AS YOU FEEL in 1951, HENRY' S FULL HOUSE, MONKEY BUSINESS CLASH BY NIGHT, WE' RE NOT MARRIED! and DON' T BROTHER TO KNOCK in 1952.


It was her performance in 1953' s NIAGARA, that delivered her stardom.


Marilyn' s success in Niagara was followed with lead roles in GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES an HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE in 1953.

In this year the Photoplay magazine voted her the Best New Actress of 1953.


After them ist followed 3 other films: THERE' S NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS and RIVER OF NO RETURN in 1954 and THE 7 YEAR ITCH.


In the seam year she married baseball superstar Joe DiMaggio on January 14, but 9 month later, on October 27, Marilyn and Joe divorsed.

Marilyn was ready to shed her shallow blonde image by 1955.


In 1956, she started her own motion picture company called Marilyn Monroe Productions. The company produced BUS STOP in 1956 and THE PRINSE AN THE SHOWGIRL in 1957.


For 1959' s SOME LIKE IT HOT, she won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a comedy.


On June 29, 1956 Marilyn wed playwright Arthur Miller.


While they were married , Arthur wrote the prt of RoslynTaber in 1961' s THE MIFITS for her.


Their marriage ended on January 20, 1961.


At the 1962 Golden Globes, Marilyn was named female World Film Favourite, once again demionstrating her widespresd appeal.


On August 4, 1962, 36- year- old Marilyn Monroe died in her sleep at her Brentwood, Carlifornia home.


During her career, she made 30 films and left one, SOMETHING' S GOT TO GIVE unfinished.


Today, the name Marilyn Monroe is a synonoum for beauty, sensuality and effervescence.
