'The Simpson's' were created by the cartoonist Matt Groening in 1987. At first it was a 30-second spot for 'The Tracy Ullman Show' on FOX. A total of 48 shorts were produced over the first three seasons, and Bart is the only character who appeared in all 48. The response to the spots was positive so, that FOX made a half-hour Christmas special on Dec. 17, 1989. Since Jan. 14, 1990 'The Simpson's' is a regular TV-Show.
Now the series are present in over 70 countries.
Since 1995 Matt Groening also generated 'FUTURAMA'
'The Simpson's' is registered in the Guinness Book of Records for the longest animated series in the television history. There are more than 200 episodes. The show's 100th episode was aired in April 1994, the 200th in May 1998.
BART:
The name Bart is an anagram of brat.
Brat means annoying child.
Nancy Cartwright and Sandra Schwittau are the English and German voice for bart who is the eldest child in the Simpson's family.
Bart begins every episode by writing out his prescriptive lesson on the day.
He attends Springfield Elementary school where he is in the fourth grade. Homework and studying are not a priority for him.
His first words as a baby were 'AYE, CARUMBA!'
Bart is the trouble maker of the family.
At heart(willingly), he's just a good kid with a few bad ideas, a couple of really bad ideas and one or two that are still being reviewed by the Springfield district attorney.
Bart's hobbies are skateboarding, graffiti and watching Krusty and the Itchy and Scratchy Show.
Marge Simpson
The English voice of Marge is Julie Kavner and Elisabeth Volkmann is the
German voice.
Marge Simpson is a happy homemaker and mother of three. Her prides and joys are
Bart (her 'special little guy'), Lisa and Maggie. She's very proud of
her husband, Homer, even though he frequently loses his keys and needs her to
find them. Marge has strong relationships with her sisters, Patty and Selma,
and with her father-in-law, Abe Simpson. But she also has secrets: She has been
tempted to stray from her husband by a charming bowler and was nearly seduced
into a life of crime by her one-time neighbour, Ruth Powers. Aside from her
duties at home, Marge has flirted briefly with a number of careers ranging from
police officer to anti-violence activist.
Homer Simpson
Dan Castellaneta is the English voice of Homer and Norbert Gastell is the
German voice.
Can life get any better for Homer J. Simpson? He juggles the roles of husband,
father, safety inspector at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, bowler, beer
drinker, astronaut, small business owner and dreamer, and makes it all look
easy. But it wasn't always so easy for Homer who has grown up with his father,
Abe, who tried to compensate for the absence of his radical hippie wife, Homer
graduated at the bottom of his high school class and managed to earn the
distinction of being the longest-term entry-level employee at the plant. Homer
fell in love with Marge in high school, together they have settled down in
Evergreen Terrace, the nicest upper-lower-middle class section of Springfield,
to live with their three children. Homer is fond of Duff Beer, donuts, Marge's
pork chops and watching the Bee Guy on the Spanish channel. He takes a dislike
to his boss, Mr. Burns and his neighbour, Ned Flanders. He is also idler.
Maggie Simpson
Maggie Simpson has done a lot in her one year of life. She has learned to spell her own name with an Etch A Sketch, she's wandered the town of Springfield all by herself, and she's shot Springfield's richest man because he attempted to steal her lollipop. Eventually, she would like to learn how to speak and walk without falling down.
Lisa:
The English voice of Lisa is Yeardley Smith and Sabine Bohlmann is the German voice.
Lisa is the 'perfect child' and that often creates many problems for her.
Her brother Bart constantly teases her for getting top grades, Homer can't understand why Lisa is a vegetarian, the kids at school think she's a nerdy 'intelligent and brilliant person' and Marge is always telling her to smile despite her sadness.
Lisa is in the second grade at Springfield elementary school where she excels in all subject areas.
Bart is 2 years older than Lisa.
She is also a talented saxophone player.
Lisa Simpson takes after her parents: she has Marge's common sense, hard work ethic and sympathy for others; and she has Homer's last name.
Lisa's enormous intelligence and moral authority place her in a unique position in the Simpson family
She likes watching the Itchy and Scratchy Show and listening to jazz music.
